Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35 recently welcomed English Learner students and their families to the SCV35 English Learner Family Literacy and Resource Night.
The event provided families with information and resources to support students’ language development and educational success. Families had the opportunity to receive books, learn strategies they can use at home to support language development, and attend informational presentations about the district’s Structured English Immersion Program.
Community organizations also joined the event to share information and connect families with additional resources and services. SCV35 thanks Rio Rico Rotary, Tubac Rotary, Mariposa Community Health Center, Arizona@Work, MIKID, Nogales Library, First Things First Child and Family Resources, and the Santa Cruz County Superintendent’s Office for participating and supporting SCV35 students and families.
SCV35 also extends its appreciation to the Teaching, Learning, & Assessing Department for organizing the event and for their continued work to support English Learners and families throughout the district.
Events such as the English Learner Family Literacy and Resource Night provide families with opportunities to connect with their schools, learn more about available programs and services, and access resources that support student learning both in and outside of the classroom.
