2021 Hall of Fame Inductee Carlos Villareal is a CAA Academic All-AmericanGraduate from the University of Arizona with a double major in Psychology and Communication. He was an 8-time state champion in cross country and track.
Arizona high school state record holder in the 1600m (4:03.97) at Rio Rico High School.
Carlos was also the record holder in the 800m, 1600m, Mile, 3200m, 3 Mile, 5k, Distance Medley relay, 4x800m relay, 4xMile relay. He was the 2015 Nike Prefontaine High School Mile Champion, and Milesplit High School All-American.
After leaving Rio Rico High School, some of his major athletic accomplishments include being a 3-time NCAA All American, NCAA Academic All-American, Sub 4-minute miler (3:56.77), Freshman 1500m school record (3:41.75), #2 all time in school history in the 800m (1:46.70) the 1500m (3:37.22), and the indoor mile (3:56.77), Arizona Athletics’ 2019 CATSY Award winner for Junior Male Athlete of the Year. In 2019, Carlos qualified to patriciate in the Pan American Games where he won a Gold medal in the 1500m, which made him the first Mexican in Pan American Games history to ever win a gold medal in that event.
