Welcome to Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District #35. On this page, you will find information regarding our registration process. For your convenience, please find enrollment forms on the right hand side.

Frequently Asked Registration Questions

How old does my child need to be to register for kindergarten?
Children need to be five (5) years old by August 31. Registrations open in January.

Is pre-k available?
Yes, we have full-day classes available for eligible families. Children must be four (4) years old by August 31. For more information please, please visit our Pre-K Program page.

Where should I register?
Please register your child at the Welcome Center, which is located at 131 Camino Maricopa off of exit 12 in Rio Rico. Please see our kindergarten registration flyer for additional details.

What should I bring?
In order to complete the registration process, you will need to bring the following documents:

  • Child’s birth certificate (original)
  • Current immunization records
  • Last report card or transcripts
  • Official withdrawal from previous school
  • Proof of address with parent/guardian name (mortgage statement or rental lease) plus current utility bill
  • Parent/guardian picture ID
  • (If applicable) custody documents, copies of IEPs, or 504 plans

Important: A parent/guardian must accompany the student for registration.

In-District Student - We will enroll your child within the corresponding school boundary of your current address. We will provide transportation.

In-District Boundary Exception - You can apply to have your child attend a different school through boundary exception. As long as there is room, your child will be accepted. No transportation available.

Out of District Open Enrollment - If the student resides outside of the Rio Rico School District, an open enrollment form is available. Certain conditions apply. Limited transportation available to Nogales.

Registrations open year round except for pre-k.

For children born in Arizona, an immediate family member can obtain a certified birth certificate from the Arizona Office of Vital Records:

Immunization Information

In accordance with state law, we require our students to receive the appropriate immunizations—and provide proof of immunization—before enrolling in our district schools. Please visit our Health Office page for details and information about immunization requirements.

Governor Ducey and Superintendent Hoffman announced the extended closure of Arizona schools until the end of the 2019–2020 school year as a necessary step in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Although all school sites and activities will remain closed through the end of the school year, the at-home learning opportunities which have been communicated by your student's school will continue as planned. 

Meal services for students will also continue throughout the remainder of the school year.
