The SCVUSD35 annual back-to-school blitz is on July 27 before school reopens. Our event aims to assist our families in preparing their children to be equipped and ready for the first day of school. The primary goal is to enable our students to focus completely and solely on learning when they enter their classroom in August. We want to minimize worries about adequate clothing, required appointments or school supplies.
A secondary goal is to relieve some of the financial stress by our district families in preparing their child for the first day of school. The average cost of preparing a child for the first day of school with clothing, shoes, and school supplies is a staggering $422 per child (2010, National Retail Federation Survey).
At our annual blitz, through community donations, we provide needed services (immunizations, sports physicals, haircuts, etc.), clothing (uniform shirts, socks, underwear, etc.), school supplies (backpacks, rulers, notebook paper, crayons, pencils, etc.), hygiene kits (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) and more to every SCVUSD student who attends.
